Opening the doors to culture means providing information about history and discovering the heritage of a geographical area. In 2005, Ille-et-Vilaine Conseil génral introduced a département-wide programme giving easier access and added value to local heritage.

Ille-et-Vilaine Conseil général has also laid down a number of objectives, to be achieved by 2010: listing, protecting, restoring and enhancing a number of symbolic sites that are of particular importance in our history.
There may also be special events on these sites, an additional opportunity to give the widest possible public a chance to learn more about the history of Ille-et-Vilaine.

River and maritime heritage, historic industrial sites, religious heritage
With old dry docks along the coast, lime kilns, standing stones and churches or chapels, the Conseil général wants to promote and save river and maritime heritage, historic industrial sites and religious heritage.
