Despite Ille-et-Vilaine's economic advantages and low unemployment rate, jobs remain a priority. In 2007, 31 million euros have been set aside for employment, especially for people in difficulty. The aim of the Conseil général is to strengthen the pillars of the local economy and support a return to work. The Conseil général helps with the search for employment, relocations and reclassifications of workers in sectors or skill sets currently undergoing problems. It also assists young farmers to establish their own farm and diversify their activity.

Since the beginning of 2007, the Conseil général has been providing aid more specifically for companies which create long-term jobs targeted at social integration.

Employment for young people, a priority in 2007
Having made youth central to its list of priorities, the Conseil général wants to provide support for youth in the work force through the continuation of jobs for the young and the creation of new jobs in associations. Moreover, the Conseil général wants to encourage those who receive the minimum social welfare payment (RMI) to find stable employment by increasing the number of actions taken in this respect e.g. a ?back to work? bonus and the introduction of assisted contracts with the aim of seeing 1,000 contracts signed by the end of 2007.
