Over the years, Ille-et-Vilaine Conseil général has acquired ownership of a range of historic buildings. The aim is to open them to the largest possible number of visitors.

Consideration is currently being given to the possible gradual opening of  industrial heritage site of the lime kilns in Lormandière in Chartres-de-Bretagne to the general  public.
The Abbey of Notre-Dame-du-Nid-au-Merle in Saint-Sulpice-la-Forêt has been open to the public since September 2005.
