Ille-et-Vilaine's cultural heritage includes the adventures of its historical figures and their love of their homeland. Among these famous names are Nominoë, the first King of Brittany in Bains-sur-Oust and Redon, du Guesclin at Les Iffs and Le Grand-Fougeray, Chateaubriand in Saint-Malo and Combourg, Madame de Sévigné in Vitré and our glorious seafarers, Jacques Cartier, Duguay Trouin and Surcouf in Saint-Malo.
