Maintaining the attractiveness of geographical areas

Distributing growth, developing attractiveness and increasing the dynamism of areas: the Conseil général supports business and its development, initiatives, business start-ups and innovation.
It helps individual areas to bring players together, to encourage development, to attract businesses and to provide the impetus for major projects.

The Conseil général assists in business start-ups through supporting investment and job creation. It invites businesses to relocate to Ille-et-Vilaine, through the economic development agency, Idea 35.

To make it easier to choose the right geographical location for a business, the Conseil général has introduced a computer tool providing information on business parks, called cartoparc.

Backing for companies
The Conseil général also supports business start-ups in sectors such as commerce, trades, social economy and solidarity.

Through its centres of excellence, it has been supporting the introduction of specialist sectors since 2004 to fight against the relocation of companies elsewhere, to develop business activities and to support innovation, research and job creation.

Involvement in Brittany's competitiveness clusters
In 2005, the Conseil général spontaneously provided support for the applications for four competitiveness clusters in Brittany (Imaging & Networks, Sea Brittany, Top-of-the-range Automobile and Valorial).
These competitiveness clusters pave the way to cooperative projects involving close cooperation between higher education, research and the business sector.
